The S&P 500 Chart Shows This Weird Dichotomy Between The VIX And Real Stock Market Volatility Now – Mike Swanson (12/23/2020)

Many people are on vacation now or and are not paying attention to the markets this week focused on the holidays, but something funny happened on Monday and Tuesday with the S&P 500 that actually confirms the underlying trend of the stock market now. On Monday the US stock market had a nasty dump on the open that caused the VIX to spike up over 30% at one point during the day, but when you measure the real price volatility on the S&P 500 chart it is actually going down and not up!
