Last year was a wonderful year for the financial markets.  On November 8, 2016 Donald Trump was elected President of the United States and the very next day the DOW Jones Industrial Average roared and soared.

It smashed through the 20,000 mark and then when the calendar turned to year 2017 it went up more and more without ever pulling back.

In fact the DOW and the S&P 500 didn’t even pull back more than five percent one single time off of a 52-week high during the entire year of 2017.

Take a look at this chart of the DOW.

You can see it went straight up last year.  Everyone knows that the best way to make money in the stock market is to buy on bottoms and dips and to avoid buying the tops.

But that didn’t matter last year when almost all stocks would barely dip when they did dip.

You could buy a stock on a peak and if it just pulled back a few percentage points afterwards it didn’t matter, because it would end up going higher a few weeks later.

Another way to put it is that you could pretty much throw money at the markets and at stocks and make money last year.

You didn’t need to know what you were doing.

It was a unique time and no one can deny that.

But now things are different and stocks are swinging up and down causing people without a real strategy to all too often get hurt and get shaken out after they buy.

For instance look at the wild swings that Google put on in the first quarter of this year.

I have seen this type of market action before and know what to do.

Let me explain.

MY SIMPLE SHORT-TERM TRADING SOLUTION

My name is Michael Swanson and I first started to trade in the 1990’s when I put $15,000 into a new brokerage account.  I didn’t know what I was doing and I put all of that money into one single stock.   I had no trouble pulling the trigger and buying things, but had no plan on when to sell.

I was lucky because it was a time much like last year in which stocks would go straight up and I doubled my account in less than a month.
