Sears has been good to me -- an occasional customer -- over the last 30 or so years. I never had a problem with the company.
There is only one store remaining within 20 miles of here; and it is the only remaining tenant in a ghost mall that once swelled with middle class customers.
I bought one of their Craftsman lawn tractors this year, having read several reviews extolling the price/quality value. I went to the store in the ghost mall and got useful info and good service from the sales guy and other staff. Later, I got quick, friendly, on-site warranty service for a simple adjustment.
Apparently, quality doesn't pay anymore, at least not at the level of chain stores.

Good quality, good service, same results. Seems like I always knew what to expect from them. I have never been disappointed./jimo
I've never had a problem with sears either, maybe their problem is that they are mainly in malls.
too many old stores in bad locations... shedding dead wieght
